Harrowing footage has captured a dad sharing a final moment with his baby daughter before being mercilessly gunned down in the street.

CCTV footage shows the victim - 46-year-old lawyer André Ribeiro - coming face to face with a suspected hitman after parking outside a property in Permambuco, Brazil. The video begins with him getting out of the car and walking around to the back seat to be handed his young daughter.

A woman, thought to be either his partner or the girl's nanny, also steps out of the car. Suddenly the killer, wearing a white t-shirt and baseball cap, appears and points his handgun towards Mr Ribeiro.

Briefly pausing, the dad calmly turns away from the criminal to pass his daughter over to the woman, looking at her for the last time. He then gets down on the ground and the thug shoots him five times before fleeing the area.

Mr Ribeiro died instantly during the incident, which was first reported in 2018. The woman and child were unhurt.

The motive for the shooting was not made clear at the time of the video's release, but local reports suggested that it was carried out by a hitman - and not a thief - because nothing was stolen.
